Healthy crimson. The same liquorice/exotic note as was on the 1953. Quite intense. Very complete and seductive. Great scent. A little attenuated on the mid palate. Needs quite a bit of time. 17/20 points (JR)
The 1979 Domaine de Chevalier is very agreeable and drinkable from the time it was bottled. This is a charmingly supple, fruity, medium-bodied wine that refuses to fall apart. A fragrant bouquet of ripe berry fruit and cedar is alluring. On the palate, the wine is supple, medium bodied, oaky, round, and long. (RP)
