Healthy, bright crimson. Very fresh and beguiling. Absolutely fresh-scrubbed; no make-up. Lovely delicacy. Complete nose. All bases covered. Is this the 1978? Not an attention grabber but absolutely perfect Dom de Chev. Quite long. This wine perfectly expresses the place. Interesting that, unusually, it didn’t sing out 1982--although this was always an unusual wine, frost-shrunk. 17.5/20 points.
Slightly rustic, but with a good concentration of ripe fruit. Brick-red color, with a ruby center. Medium- to full-bodied, with ripe berry and tobacco aromas...velvety tannins and a slightly funky aftertaste. (JS)
