This magnificent Lynch Bages has been drinking well since the day it was released and it continues to go from strength to strength. The biggest, richest, fullest-bodied Lynch Bages until the 2000, the fully mature 1990 exhibits an unbelievably explosive nose of black currants, cedarwood, herbs and spice. The majestic, classically Bordeaux aromatics are followed by a full-bodied, voluptuously textured, rich, intense wine with superb purity as well as thrilling levels of fruit, glycerin and sweetness. This beauty should continue to provide immense pleasure over the next 15+ years. (RP)
Aromas of tar, currant and berries follow through to a full-bodied palate, with silky tannins and a long, long finish. Still not completely ready, but so good anyway. (JS, Web Only-2007)
Full medium ruby. Aromatic, vibrant aromas of blackcurrant, bitter chocolate and shoe polish. Chewy, sweet, dense and deep, with the wine strong minerality contributing to the impression of aromatic lift in the mouth. The classiest of these vintages of Lynch-Bages. Finishes with ripe tannins and impressive length. (ST)
Dark ruby-red with a garnet edge. Initially inexpressive nose opens with aeration to reveal aromas of red fruits, flowers, tar and minerals. Sweet on entry, with flavors of red cherry syrup, vanilla and milk chocolate, then develops a delicate animal nuance with air. The long finish features persistent notes of tobacco and kirsch. Typically seductive Lynch-Bages, and quite opulent in texture. (ID)
Dark blackish ruby. Both sweet and lively - fresher than many 1990s are tasting in 2015. Very racy and vivacious still. Rich but with a light sensation of iron. 18.5/20 points. (JR)
