Château de Marbuzet lies just northeast of Château Cos d'Estournel and south of Château Montrose, overlooking the Gironde from one of the highest crests of the Médoc and situated on soils very similar to those of Cos d'Estournel. The grapes from the vineyards of Marbuzet are crushed and vinified at Château Cos d'Estournel. Until 1994 the grapes from the young vines of Cos d'Estournel, of 20 years of age or less, were blended with those from Château de Marbuzet, then considered to be the second wine of Cos d'Estournel. Since the 1994 vintage Château de Marbuzet has been made only from the 17.5 acres of vineyards surrounding the château.
