Dark-ruby in color, with wonderful berry, cherry and grapey aromas. Full-bodied, loads of tannins and tons of fruit. Still closed; needs time. Biggest Poujeaux I have ever tasted, except for the 1928. (JS)
The 1989 is an excellent wine, exhibiting a moderately intense bouquet of toasty new oak, spicy, blackcurrant fruit, medium to full body, and attractive ripeness and heady alcohol in the finish. (RP)
