Château Guiraud is one of the most unique bottlings of Sauternes, as it includes more sauvignon blanc at forty percent, than virtually anyone in the appellation. Their 1986 vintage has always been delightful and the wine has now reached its apogee and is drinking with both complexity and style. The bouquet is a fine blend of peach, pineapple, honey, lovely savory elements from the sauvignon blanc and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied, complex and marvelously balanced, with bright acids, lovely focus and grip and a long, racy finish. Fine, fine juice. (Drink between 2016-2045)
A fabulous, exotic blockbuster of great balance and harmony, tasting of orange slices and chocolate, honey and cream, leading to an intense finish. Tempting now but built for aging.
