The Artesa Napa Cabernet was harvested from six vineyards in five sub-appellations of the valley: Calistoga, Howell Mountain, Rutherford, Oakville and Carneros. This wide diversity of climate and geography imparts considerable complexity to the wine. The average vine age is approaching 20 years and yields from a bountiful vintage averaged nearly 5.0 tons per acre. The wine is typical for the 1997 vintage with its fresh, ripe, almost sweet fruit that explodes from the glass and over-shadows any hint of tannin. Production is 2,650 cases. Received a star from the Connoisseurs Guide.
