2 bicchieri for this Sangiovese blended with a bit of Merlot and Sagrantino. For those of you familiar with the muscular nature of Caprai's Sagrantino this wine is more elegant, sinewy and drinkable at a younger age. 1997 in Umbria is equally as good as it was in Tuscany and with this wine the incredible aromatic range of Sangiovese is really at its ripe peak. It is coupled with the fleshy nature of the vintage into a fabulous wine capable of aging a decade plus or, due to the fleshy nature of the vintage, drinkable now. I would decant it for a couple of hours of aeration for the best results.
