A bargain among Down Under fortifieds, Buller's Victorian blended Tokay features wonderfully complex notes of tea, spice and citrus atop lush caramel-like sweetness. It's silky and balanced, with a long, citrusy finish.

Here's a great 'stickie' from the land down under. There is a gorgeous nose full of orange rind, necterine, almond, toffee and white chocolate with hints of cold tea bag. With wonderful balance and length, this matchs superbly with milk chocolate.

Bright orange-hued brown. Pungent aromas of apricot and peach pit, mint, cherry and dried rose. Sappy, spicy cherry and pit fruit flavors are lifted by a zesty spice note and complicated by suggestions of succulent herbs. The minty quality resonates on the long, slightly sticky finish.

Beginning the fortifieds, the NV Fine Old Tokay provides a great value taste of this style. Yielding a pale amber color, the aromas are of ripe figs, dried apricots, toffee, manuka honey and a whiff of treacle. It’s very sweet in the mouth, yet a high backbone of acid provides freshness for balance that lasts through the long finish. Best known for their rare, fortified vintage blends of Muscat and Tokay - the style that really put Rutherglen on the fine wine map - R L Buller also produce some very good if robust table wines that speak of the region’s hot growing season.
